Beam Height: At ~60 miles from KGGW, the lowest radar beam is roughly 5,000–6,000 ft above ground. Shallow precipitation events (fog, light drizzle, virga) may not register.

Ground Clutter: Anomalous propagation (AP) can cause false echoes near the radar site, especially in temperature inversions common during Montana winters.

Cone of Silence: The area directly above KGGW has no coverage. For Culbertson, this is not an issue — we are well within the scanning range, but at the edge where resolution decreases.
